The Scream franchise holds near and dear to the hearts of those who deeply enjoy American slasher movies. This 25-year-long saga has continuously instilled fear into the minds of those who dare watch their movies.

The latest addition to this long-lasting performance was added to the collection just a couple of weeks ago on January 14th, 2022. This long-awaited sequel is exclusively available to its fans in theaters only.

The chain of Scream movies follows the life of one of the five main characters of the movies, Sidney Prescott (played by Neve Campbell). Her character was developed in the first rendition of the Scream movies after Casey Becker (Drew Barrymore), Ghostfaces’ first victim, was introduced and soon murdered.

In the film, Jenna Ortega plays the role of Tara when she gets a call on her phone. The first scene consists of her texting her friend Amber and hastily running towards her front door in a panic when she realizes that it’s not Amber she's speaking with. This clip of the opening scene was posted on YouTube by the Movie Coverage channel and has an astounding 550,000 views after only being posted for three months.

The entire comment section of the video is filled to the brim with praise for Ortega’s acting ability and the movie’s (then) upcoming release. One of many commenters that goes by the username ‘Bananaboy46’ mentions “Jenna Ortega is an incredible actor! She nailed the opening kill.” 15 others agreed with this opinion.

It’s very refreshing to experience such a positive attitude being shared with the people who are a part of the creation process of the follow-up to such a beloved, staple slasher movie. When it comes to sequels in the slasher genre, fans are typically skeptical of movie studios and their ability to create a film equally as authentic as the original. It’s rare for them to accomplish this as people will watch these films with the idea that it was principally made as a quick cash grab scheme.

Since the Scream 5 reveal, there has been non-stop excitement for its release. I’d be lying if I said I weren't one of them. Although Scream 5 has been out for a while now, a lot of people are still just as excited to see this film flourish further and become one of the most iconic movies of our generation. This is a plausible outcome for Scream 5, as it will slowly start to be pushed out onto streaming services.
